Community Award for Save The Blean

The Sheriff of Canterbury, Steph Jupe, presented the award from Blean Village Hall to members of Save the Blean committee (Suzanne Wyatt, Sean Mohan and Ania Bobrowicz) at a coffee morning on Saturday, 26 September.

Ania Bobrowicz said: “This award belongs to everyone who signed our petition, delivered a leaflet, put up a placard or banner, or donated to our cause. The Blean is a special place, with ancient woodland, working farmland and wildlife on our doorstep, and people across the district have shown how much it matters to them. The campaign isn’t over, but this shows what a community can do when it works together.”

Canterbury City Council removed the site from its draft Local Plan in March 2026, but the University has said it still intends to submit a planning application.
